Sven Gamsky, professionally known as Still Woozy, recently brought his electrifyingly loud Loveseat Tour across five Australian cities, finishing off with his final show at The Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Australia on the 12th of February. Still Woozy is known for his buttery smooth sound, best described as a combination of the lo-fi, indie and RnB genres, creating a unique, easy listening sound that his fans know and love. First gaining attention through his self-released singles, Still Woozy gained notoriety after the release of his 2021 debut album If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is, cementing his place within the indie-pop scene with a collection of laid-back and groovy tracks with infectious melodies guaranteed to capture your attention.

As the clock hit 9pm, the lights dimmed as the crowd roared with excitement for the night to come. Still Woozy’s band members all entered the stage one by one, setting up instruments and waving to the audience, creating high anticipation for the man himself to step on the stage. The stage itself adorned oversized plastic daisies sporting smiley faces on them near each of the instruments, adding intrigue and bringing the stage to life before Still Woozy had even entered it. Out of nowhere, the PA boomed as we heard a ‘Brisbane, are you ready?’, causing the crowd to scream even louder as he ran out onto the stage, all guns blazing ready to start the night. Opening the set with his single Again, Still Woozy ran from each side of the stage whilst leaning over and performing hilarious dance moves and actions towards the crowd, leaning into the already deafening cheering.

Still Woozy’s show could be best described in three words. Funny, energetic, and laid-back. Without a break, he quickly slid into his second of the night titled Window, which as of writing this has over 153 million plays on Spotify. The crowd roared with excitement as he ran around the stage as if he had the neverending energy of a toddler. Fans leaned over the barricade with signs in their hands hoping to be noticed by the performer himself, but he was off in his own world, putting everything he had into the vocals and energy of the show. At one point, he turned his back to the crowd and bent over, shaking his behind at the crowd, causing a deafening eruption of cheering and laughter.

The venue, The Fortitude Music Hall was a great choice for the show to be held, being one of Brisbane’s longest standing event halls that host some of the biggest acts and events over the course of its existence. The combination of Still Woozy’s infectious energy, the venue’s immersive atmosphere, and an audience that clung onto every moment created a show that was equal parts exhilarating and unforgettable.

Still Woozy’s ability to blend humour and music was unlike anything I’d seen. From the playful way the stage was set up, to the enthusiasm and raw energy that was put into the show, each moment was a testament to his unique artistry that his fans came to love him for. Still Woozy is an artist whose potential can only skyrocket from here and his fans can expect that his shows will only become larger and more widespread, lucky to see him in such a small and intimate setting.
